Jack Schultek
Jack is a senior at Mount Horeb High School. He has been active in many clubs and activities during his high school years including Student Council (has served as Secretary and President), Link Crew, Club Interact, National Honors Society, Green Team (has served as Treasurer and President), DECA (Officer for three years) and Prom Planning Committee. He just finished the EMT Class at Madison College and is now preparing to take the National Registry exam. Jack participated in Cancer Research at UW-Madison last summer.
The InnerMind Project was an initiative founded by Jack and a friend. This initiative focused on providing students with sufficient materials to begin journaling as a coping mechanism after the events of May first. They worked on this project for nine months, and participated in the Mental Health and Wellness Fall Festival where they ran a successful booth promoting journaling techniques and donated over 400 journals to participants. He also presented to a group of firefighters in Middleton and talked about the effects of working in emergency care and the benefits of journaling. The InnerMind Project was presented at the DECA State Conference and won third in the State, allowing them to present the InnerMind Project at the International Stage. Jack believes that advocacy is one's greatest power.
